The Pennsylvania State Chess Federation is entirely volunteer-driven. From organizing statewide qualifiers to managing the digital infrastructure that supports our 30,000+ members, volunteers are the engine that keeps our chess community thriving.
Whether you are a seasoned Tournament Director, a parent looking to help out at scholastic events, or a professional with technical and leadership skills, there is a place for you on our team.
Tournament Staff & Directors: Be the face of our events. We always need floor assistants, registration desk help, setup crews, and certified Tournament Directors to ensure our state qualifiers and championships run flawlessly.
Leadership & Governance: Help steer the future of chess in Pennsylvania. We regularly seek dedicated individuals to serve on the Executive Board or step into Administrative Coordinator roles to help govern and grow the organization.
Committees & Specialized Skills: Not all chess volunteering happens over the board. We need professionals to serve on specialized committees, including:
IT & Data Management: Help maintain our membership databases, website, and digital infrastructure.
Scholastic Chess: Work with schools and clubs to expand youth access to the game.
Finance & Fundraising: Assist with budgeting, grant writing, and community outreach.
Make an Impact: Directly support the players, students, and clubs in your local community.
Network & Connect: Work alongside other passionate chess organizers, technical professionals, and state leaders.
Grow the Game: Ensure that high-quality, accessible chess tournaments continue to operate across Pennsylvania.
Let us know how you want to help, and we will match you with an opportunity that fits your skills and schedule.
